New basketball court in East LA honors Kobe and Gianna Bryant

A new basketball court honoring Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna "Gigi" Bryant is now open in East Los Angeles.

Located at **Atlantic Avenue Park**, the court features the Lakers' signature purple and gold, with designs honoring Kobe and Gigi painted on the surface.

Kobe and Gigi, along with seven others, tragically died in a 2020 helicopter crash in Calabasas. The project was a collaboration between **L.A. County Parks**, **BodyArmor**, and the **Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation** to honor their legacy.

The foundation—named after Kobe and Gigi—provides sports education to underserved athletes. Originally founded in 2016 as the Mamba Sports Foundation, it was renamed after the crash.

This marks the **first Mamba Court** in a Los Angeles County Park.

Kobe’s oldest daughter, **Natalia Bryant**, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday alongside **USC women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb**. Nearby school students also joined the event, trying out the newly refurbished court.
